A virtual marathon of fun activity
In a nutshell
A virtual marathon of fun activity
In recognition of Mencap's 2020 London Marathon partnership, All Move is a 26 hour challenge – a virtual marathon where each hour of activity undertaken equates to a mile. Participants will get to try a range of sports and activities through their school or group, as well as having access to All Move resources that will encourage them to exercise in their own free time, and hopefully beyond completion of the challenge.
Rewards and resources for participants
Participants' progress is tracked using the All Move portal, and they are rewarded as they reach key milestones in their journey. As well as this, participants receive a t-shirt upon signing up, and the official All Move medal and certificate upon completion of the challenge.
From gorge walking to circus skills
Schools and groups engage 10 young people from their setting, providing them with exciting, additional opportunities to get active across the year. From gorge walking to rock climbing, circus skills to canoeing, we encourage the schools and groups we work with to be adventurous and deliver a programme with as much variety as possible. To support them in this, All Move offers access to funding.
Activities we've seen
What else?
Participants can be encouraged and rewarded to complete some hours of activity at home, to instil that positive attitude towards physical activity. The digital All Move at Home resource pack has been designed specifically with this in mind, with a limited number of hard copies still available to schools and groups that are interested.
There are also opportunities for schools and groups that engage in All Move to collaborate with mainstream partners, facilitating friendships between young people with and without a learning disability. Those with ambitions to undertake this kind of work can discuss it with the All Move team, who will give more details about our Collaboration Fund.
