What is All Move?

The All Move challenge is a physical activity initiative for schools and youth groups which support 11-16 year olds with a learning disability (school years 7-11).

All Move takes the format of a virtual marathon - 26 hours of activity - and has been designed to increase the opportunities for young people with a learning disability to get and stay physically active.

It aims to embed an enjoyment of physical activity within the challenge, outside of the challenge and beyond the challenge!

When is it happening?

The project is taking place again during the 2021/22 academic year, with schools and groups across England and Wales.

Last year, 600 participants across 40 different schools and groups engaged in All Move activity. The project has been running since 2019/20.

Why 'All Move'?

Mencap were enormously proud to have been the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year. The partnership raised over £440,000 (including gift aid). This was a record breaking amount, and every penny raised has helped towards supporting young people with a learning disability to get more active.

These funds also allowed our 2019/20 model of All Move to bring students with and without a learning disability together through sport. This inclusive work was tackling stigma and promoting friendships to great effect.

In recognition of the marathon partnership – the All Move challenge is 26 hours long, every hour equating to a mile! Each participant will even get a medal and certificate when they reach the ‘finish line’.
